What does Taught in the Wood Trailblazers offer you?

Real-world skills and transformative learning
Trailblazers teaches leadership, teamwork and creativity. It encourages new ways of problem-solving and new ways of learning - which will carry over to the classroom and the pupils' academic performance.

Designed around your pupils
We work with you to make sure that the course reflects your needs. Our team are all highly experienced bushcraft and survival skills instructors. They are uniquely able to combine pedagogy with experience – in a safe, welcoming environment.

EXPERIENCE GENUINE BUSHCRAFT
We provide detailed instruction, supervision and all the tools and resources necessary for woodland survival.
We are open all year round, regardless of the weather! You will need to bring appropriate clothing and footwear. We provide hot drinks, but a packed lunch is advisable for the pupils.

Amazing value
The course costs £900 - for a group of 30 pupils, that works out at just £30 per pupil.
Trailblazers is also an ideal use of Pupil Premium funding. We can cater for groups of up to a maximum of 30 pupils.
What will my pupils learn?
The basics of survival and bushcraft, including building shelters/dens, fire lighting, cooking and a review of how to treat water to make it safe to drink (this latter part is not a practical element, it is discussion based).
Adventure activities such as archery and team tasks designed to give each child a chance to lead and flourish
Topics based around the curriculum, such as science, geography and the environment, history (this is how our ancestors lived and some cultures still live today), design and technology and art – at the end of the day they are encouraged to make something based on what they have learned
For some pupils, Trailblazers is a very rare opportunity to experience and explore nature and the environment close at hand. For all pupils, Trailblazers is a chance to develop their creativity, teamwork and leadership, problem-solving, motivation and self-esteem.

"I just wanted to thank you, Ron and Alex for a truly fabulous experience for our pupils last week."
"They thoroughly enjoyed it and didn't stop talking about it all week. The pupils doing other projects sounded very jealous! I will be recommending you to everyone I know both in and out of teaching. Thanks again."
