Taught in the Wood Trailblazer Tips
September 2015

Welcome to the September edition of our Trailblazer tips – great resources for you and your pupils to discover more about the woodland environment, bushcraft and survival!

We hope you enjoy these updates and would love to hear from you. Send us your suggestions or ideas for anything you would like us to cover and we will do our best to include them!

Belmont School completes Hunger Games!

In July we played host to Belmont school. All the pupils completed our Hunger Games trials which involved them having to complete activities and overcome obstacles to get their (well deserved) lunch.

All the pupils completed the course with flying colours as well as their classroom assignments based on the books.

New video: Collecting Bullrush Tinder

Did you know that bullrushes make excellent tinder to help you start a fire in the wild?

Teaching ideas:

  • Ask your pupils what causes fire to ignite
  • How did ancient man create fire?
  • What else can bullrushes be used for?
